You can save matches you play or watch so that you can later analyze them in software like gnubg, Snowie, JellyFish, or BGBlitz. Matches are stored in a standard text format understood by most backgammon analysis programs (note: not all these programs are available under OS X).
To save matches after they have finished, you must first turn match recording on, in the Files section of the Preferences window (by default, match recording is off).
When the "Ask" option is selected, you will be prompted for a file name at the end of each match you play (or watch). Specify a name and location and then click Save, or click Cancel to skip saving that particular match.
You can choose a default file extension for saved matches. The ".txt" extension allows you to easily open the file in TextEdit (or another text editor) by double clicking the file. Setting it to ".mat" makes it easier to open the file in some backgammon software (such as BGBlitz).
